The HVAC system designed for this 37-storey building was a conventional one. However the standing pressure on the pump casing would be equal to 169 psig, which requires a high pressure casing pump. Normal commercial application pumps are available upto 125 psig and would not be suitable to withstand such high pressure. Moreover such high standing pressure would exert persistent pressure on all joints and pipe fittings like elbows, tees, reducers, etc. It would lead to punctures into piping system.
In order to overcome such problems, we proposed an intermediate chilled water system called tertiary system. This system works in conjunction with Secondary Pumping System, separated through a plate heat exchanger.
